Most Windows users will want the "Installer" version. Please note that 7zip indicates a compressed file, and has nothing to do with Windows 7.
Mac users, please note that you may also need X11 (which is part of XQuartz). You may already have it from programmes that you have previously installed. If you are prompted to install it the first time you run Inkscape, you can find a
Once installed, open Inkscape. It is quite normal for it to open slowly, especially the first time you use it. Once open, Inkscape should look like this:
Some of the tools are hard to fathom, which is why we're having a course. The star tool is fun and easy - just drag diagonally with the mouse button down:
You should see something like the image above. If everything is working,
