They share an intense desire to know and understand; total absorption when their interest is caught; often have unexpected questions, ideas and solutions; reluctance to complete repetitive or basic work.
These are attributes that can be difficult to cater for in the standard classroom programme, for any teacher of a mixed ability class, and are reasons why educational opportunities and approaches differentiated for gifted children matter.
